Share Program

In partnership with its suppliers, Vale promotes, in a structured and ongoing manner, actions aimed at the socioeconomic development of the territories where it operates through the Share Program — an established program aligned with the company's ESG strategy and Sustainable Procurement policy. The Share Program aims to encourage and recognize the contribution of the supplier chain to the social, economic, and institutional progress of the regions where Vale is present, strengthening local development and the social license to operate.

Since its implementation, the Share Program has consistently expanded the positive influence of Vale's value chain on local communities. Between 2020 and 2025, the program has already enabled more than BRL 110 million in social investments, generated over 45,000 local jobs, promoted BRL 1.3 billion in local income, and driven BRL 1.2 billion in local spending — contributing significantly to economic dynamism, productive inclusion, and improved social conditions in the territories where Vale operates.

The Share Program has consolidated its own mechanism and methodology to recognize and value suppliers that demonstrate a greater contribution to regional socioeconomic development. Through this approach, the program encourages a more integrated role of suppliers within communities, promoting not only the hiring of local labor, but also the strengthening of local procurement, the payment of adequate wages, and the execution of structuring social investments.

These factors are increasingly incorporated into Vale's supplier relationship and evaluation processes, reinforcing the sustainable competitiveness of the supply chain and aligning operational performance with measurable positive impacts. As the central instrument of this strategy, the Share Program developed the Community Value Index (CVI), an objective and transparent metric that identifies and assesses the socioeconomic contribution of suppliers in the territories.

The IVC was built by a multidisciplinary team and considers criteria that allow for balance, comparability, and incentive for competitive differentiation among companies, regardless of their size or origin. The index has been gradually incorporated into Vale's procurement processes as an additional parameter to support decision-making, alongside technical, commercial, and safety aspects.

In this way, Vale strengthens a Sustainable Procurement model oriented toward the generation of shared value, transforming the relationship with its supplier chain and prioritizing businesses that effectively contribute to the economic and social development of the communities where the company operates.

New Scenario

Technical evaluation of the proposal + Commercial evaluation + IVC Score = Award

Current Scenario
