Vale and the Brazilian Olympic Committee Announce Partnership Uniting Social Transformation, High Performance, and the Excitement of Sport

Brazil's largest sports funder through incentive laws expands its role with a three-year sponsorship of the BOC.

Vale and the Brazilian Olympic Committee (BOC) today (May 15) announced a strategic partnership to drive Brazilian sport forward, with a focus on social transformation, high performance, and excitement. The sponsorship, signed at the Team Brazil Training Center at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Park in Rio de Janeiro, runs through the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. It expands Vale's sports footprint — the company has been recognized for five consecutive years as Brazil's top sports investor through incentive laws. The signing took place during the handover of kits for the Team Brazil Race, to be held on Sunday, May 17.

"We are deepening our commitment to Brazilian sport alongside the BOC, reinforcing a strategic partnership that strengthens athlete development and broadens Brazilians' access to the excitement of sport," said Gustavo Pimenta, Vale's CEO.
"Supporting sports organizations and projects is fully aligned with our purpose: to improve lives and transform the future. Together."

"I always say the BOC needs to be connected to great partners, and having a giant like Vale among our sponsors is a source of immense pride. Like Olympic sport, Vale is present across different regions of Brazil — impacting communities, connecting people, and helping build opportunities. It is precisely in this convergence of purpose that we find enormous transformative potential," said Marco La Porta, President of the Brazilian Olympic Committee.

For La Porta, this new chapter of the partnership is a natural evolution: "We began this relationship at the Youth Games last year. Expanding this bond will be essential to the full development of Brazilian Olympic sport."

Vale's sponsorship of the BOC covers the entire sporting journey — securing resources for athletes and competitions from grassroots to elite level — and reflects the vision of building a Sports Nation. The goal is to introduce young people to sport and take them all the way to Olympic high performance, including support for the BOC's Olympic education program, Transforma.

Vale will also contribute to the expansion of sports initiatives throughout the country, leveraging its national reach. The company operates in five states (Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Pará, and Maranhão) across three regions, covering both state capitals and municipalities far from major urban centers — places that have traditionally struggled to attract investment — and thus helping to democratize access to sport.

A History of Supporting Sport
Vale believes in sport as a tool for social transformation and has been investing in sports initiatives for over 15 years. The company has directed approximately R$560 million through the Federal Sports Incentive Law over the past five years to initiatives carried out in its operating territories. In 2025, the amount was R$191.5 million, covering 175 projects across 469 initiatives. For Vale, sport has historically been a strategic vector for community engagement, social development, brand strengthening, and outreach to key audiences.

Supported initiatives include the Instituto Tiago Camilo, the Instituto Anderson Varejão, and Escola Zico 10. Vale's investments also aim to foster locally significant sports programs, such as Força Feminina (ES), Futebol de Rua pela Educação (PA and MG), Projeto Saúde Não Tem Idade (PA), and Pernas pra que te Quero (MA), as well as road races across its operating areas.

Vale runs five Knowledge Stations (Estações Conhecimento — ECs), facilities that integrate sport, education, culture, and citizenship, located in Arari (MA), Brumadinho (MG), Marabá and Tucumã (PA), and Serra (ES). Funded under the Sports Incentive Law, the Knowledge Stations expand children's and young people's access to sport, encouraging development from the grassroots level and helping create an environment conducive to the discovery and nurturing of new talent. In 2025, the Stations served more than 9,500 people, including 6,500 children and teenagers.
