Breaking Bias and Preventing Harassment: PT Vale Advances DEI Implementation

 
 

On November 28–29, 2025, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PT Vale) conducted a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Training Program focused on Unconscious Bias and Harassment Prevention.

The sessions were held across multiple venues—CO Wekoila Meeting Room, Almek Padamarang Meeting Room, and Ground Training Classroom at IGP Pomala—using a blended approach of online and offline learning. Facilitators included Moh. Rendra Gunawan N., Wilson Tandi Rapa, Yunita Rosalyn P., and Afiat Delasari, with participants comprising PT Vale employees, seconded staff, and Pomala contractors.

The training aimed to deepen employees’ understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, while helping them identify unconscious biases that can influence decision-making and workplace behavior. It also emphasized preventing discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, and disability—creating a fair and respectful work environment.

 
 

PT Vale’s commitment to DEI is reflected in its top ranking for gender equality in the mining sector according to the Katadata ESG Index 2025, scoring 88.33. The company targets increasing female representation to 18% by 2030, while maintaining a 1:1 pay ratio for equal roles. Currently, women make up 11.6% of the workforce, with 17 in managerial positions, and PT Vale employs 70 people with disabilities across various organizational levels.

During the sessions, facilitators stressed that diversity is not just a policy but a daily practice. 
Through interactive discussions, case studies, and role-playing, participants learned to recognize unconscious bias, understand its impact on workplace interactions, and apply mechanisms to prevent harassment. These efforts reinforce PT Vale’s commitment to building an inclusive culture that supports long-term sustainability.
